Two great events this weekend

Two great events this weekend

This weekend CSM has two important events, both on Sunday 4 March.

From 11am-3pm we will have a stall at Children’s Day which is being held on the corner of Locksley St and New Brighton Rd. Our wonderful Junior Symphony Orchestra will be performing on the stage at 11.10am.

Then at 3pm our string orchestra, Camerata will present their first concert of the year in the UC Concert Room at the Arts Centre under the baton of Patrick Shepherd. This programme is built around a new work specially composed for Camerata and its conductor Patrick Shepherd, “Reflections” by Christchurch composer John Emeleus. Soprano Charlotte Wilson is the soloist for Caro Mio Ben, Shenandoah and two songs by Gerald Finzi, all of which have been especially arranged for strings by the conductor. Also on the programme is Pierne’s delightful Serenade and a Fantasia by Purcell as well as Warlock’s ever-popular Capriol Suite.
