April 30th

Well here we are in Level 3 – for many of you it won’t seem much different, others will be back at work and school. At CSM our second term starts on 2 May –  we are continuing with online lessons – most teachers sticking to their usual timetable. Ensembles will start as soon as we hit Level 2 and we will be taking all the hygiene precautions needed to ensure the safety of all our students and staff. In the meantime, all conductors are contacting their ensembles and looking forward to seeing everyone again.

During lockdown ISO and Sinfonia have been busy – here’s the result of their combined efforts with conductor Tony Ryan and video and audio editor, Lewis Cooper

March 23rd

To all our valued CSM families and students. With today’s announcement from the government, the CSM will be shutting down face to face lessons and ensembles from midnight tonight.

You will all be receiving an email from me setting out how we will work for at least the next four weeks.

We wish you all the best to stay well. Music is so important to our well-being so keep playing, practising, and listening to the music that you love. We will keep in regular contact. If you don’t receive an email from me in the next twelve hours please email me directly at musdir@csm.org.nz. Take care out there!

March 17th

An important message for all our CSM families. Firstly, we hope you are all doing OK in these very challenging times. The welfare of our students and staff is our first priority.

Our plan is to continue with business as usual but, of course, that could change at any time so do keep an eye on your email, this Facebook page and our CSM website www.csm.org.nz. Please make sure we have an up to date email for you and your family.

Just a few reminders:

Make sure you wash your hands before and after your lesson or ensemble rehearsal.

Keep your instruments, reeds, etc clean – make sure you have all the right equipment to do this and check with your teacher if you’re not sure. Clean them every time you play.

Please don’t come to your lesson if you have a cough, a cold or a temperature

Do let your teacher know if you are not going to be able to attend lessons and it would be useful if you could let the CSM office know as well.

We are developing a plan to put into place if we are in a position of having to shut down temporarily and will keep you all fully informed.

In the meantime keep safe, make music, and look after each other!
