John has been a professional clarinettist with Opera North in the UK for the last 20 years.  During that time he was also a clarinet tutor for Huddersfield University and took part in many education projects with Opera North.  He is now clarinet supervisor for the Christchurch School of Music and will be performing with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra later this year.  He is also working as a woodwind repairer and piano tuner.
