Satisfyingly resonant, the powerful sonorous tone of the double bass completes the full orchestral sound. Valued in symphonic bands, jazz combos and ensembles it also has a satisfying solo repertoire. Progress can be very rapid.

The School has double basses, in a range of sizes, available for hire. Providing progress is good they may be available for more than one year. As very small double basses are now available, children can commence about the age of eight, depending on height and hand span.
