Christchurch School of MusicThe Christchurch Youth Recorder Ensemble is one of the CSM's most polished and high profile ensembles. The CYRE has firmly established the recorder as a challenging but satisfying concert instrument. From the impressive 2 metre tall Sub-Contra Bass to the tiny 10cm Gakklein, members play eight different sizes of recorders, performing music from medieval to modern times. More exotic instruments such as Crumhorns feature from time to time. The ensemble performs regularly up to ten concerts each year often as quest performers for other organisations. The Christchurch Youth Recorder Ensemble is made up of players with four to fourteen years' experience.
