Scholarships are available each year for competition among the School's students. The scholarships are for music tuition or for the purchase of music or musical instruments. The School would like to broaden the range of scholarships available to its students and would welcome any offers of sponsorship for further scholarships.

The Robert Perks Scholarship is valued at $300. The award is made by the Trustees of the Fund on the recommendation of the School Council and takes into account the overall musical ability and potential of the candidate in playing the violin, viola, cello or string bass.

The Fiddler’s Green Scholarship is valued at $250 and is open to students of the violin or viola.

The Bob Stafford Scholarship is valued at $200 and is open to all instruments.

The Canterbury Philharmonia Scholarship is valued at $200 The scholarship is awarded each year to a promising student from the Christchurch School of Music based on their performance in the school’s annual scholarship auditions and their musical contribution to the CSM over the previous year. It is awarded to strings and woodwind or brass in alternate years and includes the opportunity to perform a concerto, or part of a concerto, with the orchestra.

The Prue Cotton Memorial Scholarship is open to all instruments. There are two scholarships valued at $300 each.

The Ellen Doyle Award is awarded to a pianist taking part in a Chamber Music Group.

The CSM Support Trust Don Whelan Clarinet Award is awarded annually to a CSM clarinet student of merit and potential, who has shown commitment and contribution to the School and music generally in Christchurch.
